These are fan artworks with the style of the professionals

Paul Johnson writes...

"Ohayo Gozaimasu!"

"Karen Duffy, I presume? Hello there! I'm Paul Johnson, author of England's only anime Teletext feature, (Paramount channel, page 770) amateur fan artist and East Anglia Regional Co-ordinator for the UK's own Manga Entertainment LTD".

Paul added to the back of this one...

"Thought you might like this cheesy pic/scan which I found lying around on my desk. Paul Johnson."

Since this drawing is of the same style as the one he sent to the right, it's assumed that this one is also his own work.

Tasuki looking very ummm...yummy.

Art by Shawnee Bass

I cannot find Shawnee's letter that went with these. I can only hope that I read her signature correctly. The date for doing this piece of art is 8/11/97.

I've never seen a more exquisite Nuriko.

Art by Shawnee Bass

The date on this one is 7\19\97. Possessing the talent of a professional, Shawnee is still able to adapt the original manga-ka's style to her own personality without losing the mood or the look of the original. Her black outlines tend to run finer than the original manga and anime art. She uses a gradient color in the flower (something not seen much in cel drawings). There are some differences in the way Shawnee colors the skin.

Lyn Daniels does a general anime style but skillfully adapts it to her personality so that it's not a direct clone of the anime art.

In the above picture and the one she did to the right, Lyn uses a brown with a softer edge to outline her work. Both anime and manga art usually use a thicker black ink with a sharper edge.

Lyn colored the clothing in the picture to the left and Ryouga's skin in the above art is no clone of the original work. Hers has far more depth and color differentiation than is found in anime cels and poster art.

Cels and poster art must be done in such a way that production schedules can be met.

Inu Yasha by Lyn Daniels. What a talent! Inuyasha, Shippou, and Kagome. I like Shippou in green contrasting the reddish fur.

Not yet out as an anime, Viz does have the American rights to the manga/comic books. Author: Takahashi

More Ryouga from Lyn Daniels. In looking at this one, I can only say that she has an exceptional control over a pencil. Getting the pencil pressure just so is not an easy thing to master to this extent.

Ryouga is my favorite Ranma 1/2 character.
