Art is the reflection of an individual's personality and moods. I have the feeling that, if ART were to be studied using the concepts of Graphoanalysis, much of what a person is, could be analysized stroke by stroke. My what a complex study THAT would be! The purpose of writing this is for the express reason of making it clear that art isn't a case of "an artwork is good and this other one isn't as good". It IS however a unique chance to look into someone's soul and see his or her perceptions. The differences created by each soul means that if you walked into a field where artists have set up their easles to paint the scenery, you would see the same meadow, mountains and sky, BUT each rendition would have it's own flavor. Very exciting! HOWEVER, if someone tried to copy off another artist and duplicate it exactly...then not only has he cancelled out the excitement of his own art but of the person he copies off of. Perhaps it is for this reason that Watase Yuu (FY manga artist and writer), upon hearing from young artists that they are trying to "copy her style of doing art", gets upset and tells them very strongly to develop their OWN artistic style. I very much doubt that she minds people expressing their feelings about her characters through drawings and paintings of them. But to try to BE her, will cause them to lose themselves and not be something special. In saying this, she teaches them what they're missing about being an artist. It's a mistaken thought that only one style of presenting art is pretty. Some VERY exquisite commercial style art is on this site that has been sent to us as gifts during the years we worked with anime as Tomodachi. The commentary with the pro style art will show that even near perfection can have slight variations that set it apart from the originals. In appreciation... I don't know if I got everyone's art on here and apologize to anyone who might have gotten missed. This is mainly snail mail art. Art sent by email could very well have gotten lost during the November 1997 hard drive crash. |
